1. The forums are now running the latest version of the MyBB forum software, Version 1.8.32. I don't think this update will break anything, but if you see anything that's not working right, please speak up!
2. In recent times, we've had a problem with semi-automated spammers who register, make a bland but benign initial post, and then edit a spam link into their original posts. Since a human seems to be behind this activity, CAPTCHAs and other common spambot countermeasures aren't particularly effective at stopping them. In an attempt to thwart the latest forum spammer fad, we've created a New Members group, which imposes a modest restriction on brand-new accounts being able to edit posts. Legitimate new members will automatically be promoted to the regular Members group after a short time. I don't think this will have a noticeable negative effect on the user experience for legitimate new members, but if you're a real human and you need immediate unfettered access to edit one of your posts, just contact a forum admin.
3. I don't think anyone ever made an announcement about this, but Evil Yoshi Toes resigned as MFGG moderator this fall. I went and updated the staff page to reflect this change. Thanks EYT for everything you did during your time as staff! Muchas gracias.
