Yes I know I made a thread for this like 4 years ago but that was 4 years ago so I'm starting over please don't hit me
Heritage - A Dragon's Tale has been my passion project of the last 5 years. It's a solo developer project, and I'm pleased to finally share the finished game with you all! It's my first indie game and while it hasn't seen massive numbers or anything, feedback thus far has been positive and I'm immensely satisfied and feel quite accomplished at having finally achieved my childhood dream. But enough about that, let's talk about the game!
Here's some screens and gifs 👀 (don't worry plot elements aren't spoiled, I just spoiled them to not make the page load slowly)
Here's a couple trailers!
Story and Gameplay Trailer:
Updated Launch Date and Primarily Gameplay-Focused Trailer:
Inspired by games such as Shovel Knight, Zelda 2, and Mario, take control of Flame across a vast overworld packed with secrets and 17 challenging levels as he journeys to rescue his fiancee from the nefarious General Mechos! Learn spells, acquire powerful sword skills, find new weapons, find lore pages to learn about the world and characters, level up your stats, and defeat over 100 types of enemies, unlocking a bestiary entry for each new enemy type defeated!
Story and Setting:
For thousands of years the Dragons have lived a peaceful and solitary life on the Skybound Isles, safe from the dangers of the mysterious land below the clouds.
Flame and Crystal, Dragon knights in training and childhood sweethearts, are having a picnic and a well-deserved break from their day-to-day activities, when they bear witness to a strange shape rising up from the clouds. Suddenly, without warning, the giant shape revealed to be a massive airship begins raining explosive cannonballs upon the Skybound Isles.
Flame is knocked unconscious as Crystal dives to protect him, and as Flame comes to momentarily, he sees a band of humans, led by a man named General Mechos, overpower Flame's elder brother Ash and leave the scene with Crystal in captivity.
When Flame recovers, he learns his brother has departed for the land of Mineria below the clouds with the goal of rescuing Crystal.
Unable to bear the thought of Crystal in danger, Flame joins the pursuit with the blessing of Crystal's adoptive father the Dragon King. Flame's training, skills, and faith in his gods will be put to the ultimate test.
Overcome General Mechos' forces, slay demons, complete quests for friendly locals, learn why the Dragons were separated from the Minerians, uncover the secrets of the land, and discover your destiny in Heritage - A Dragon's Tale.
