Where to start for smb3 rom hacking

I wanna make a rom hack for SMB3. Where should I start? As this is my first time making a rom hack in my life.

After doing a quick search on ROMHacking.net, it looks like the editor that's currently in use is the SMB3 Foundry. Since this is you first time, I recommend starting with something simple, like a one-world vanilla style mod.
