Typically, when I discuss the classic gaming of Super Mario Bros, it usually comes to the debate, which is the better game, Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World? While the original game is classic classic, I believe these two games on their own epitomize Mario side scrollers at its best, especially with the map level selections, the power ups, the secrets and hidden gameplay... Which game do you choose?

It's honestly hard to say which of the two I prefer since both are two of my favorite Mario games and have their pros and cons, so I'd have to go with both.

They're both Mario at its absolute peak.
However, I will have to give the edge to Super Mario World.

The interconnected world map full of secrets was so cool; the level design was as strong as in SMB3 but with bigger levels to explore. Yoshi was a fantastic addition, and the physics and power-ups all felt great to use.

There's very little to nothing to criticize for me in either game, and they are both an absolute 10/10, but SMW has the more special place in my heart.

World, because 3 has one or two moments that felt somewhat unfair. Plus, you can save your game.

Super Mario World is a really good game, but I think Super Mario Bros. 3 is more of my "favorite game ever" (its not, but closer to that title) for me personally. I would probably give them both a 10/10, like DJ Coco said. Give them another "in-depth" play-through soon.

That is a very difficult question! They're both two of the finest platformers ever made, and they have a lot of nostalgia value for me - they're the first two video games I ever touched.

I'm inclined to pick SMB3 because it has such a fun variety of levels and power-ups. Its biggest (maybe only) weakness is the original version lacks a save feature, though this is mitigated in later ports.
Course clear! You got a card.

Hard to believe that in the original SMB3 you could not save your game, especially for how big that game is. I suppose I might get pretty far in that game without any saving, but I loved the Mario SNES updated games on the All-Star edition, all together those are my choice for playing the original, Lost levels (which I do not believe was on the *NES to begin with), SMB2 (However, I LOVED it on the Gameboy Advance, another update.) And you could save all of your games on that.

A game I ought to revisit sometime is Yoshi's Island 2 on the Nintendo DS, because Yoshi's Island, which is SMW2, is a GREAT game too! 10/10
