It has those Chance Shot circles on the ground which instantly has me worried, it's such an unnecessary feature and waters down the skill that used to be a part of the series. Also I worry the story mode will be a tad half-baked but we'll see. You're definitely not going to get the RPGesque story mode of the handheld ones, it looks more level based.
So far it looks like it has a lot more personality than the terrible Wii U one though which is a huge improvement. If it has great local multiplayer, online play, more characters and some cool gimmicks then I'm on board.
I'd also like some minigames too, Power Tennis on the Gamecube had some really fun multiplayer modes.

Not much else in this direct that interest me too much. Kirby looks like fun so I'll probably grab it, but it's not a MUST HAVE title. Also port of Tropical Freeze is nice for people who missed it. I'll have to consider trading in my Wii U version, but I dunno if it's worth it.
I'm not a fan of the target circles either, nor can I fathom why they were ever introduced to Mario Tennis. I'd much rather have to actually pay attention to my opponent's moves in order to figure out where the ball might go.
I like the inclusion of a story mode, though.
I'm happy Tropical Freeze is coming to the switch. I didn't get it for the wii u, so I'll probably get it for the switch. Kirby looks cool too, so that might be the first Kirby game I try.
Those are the only announcements that really interested me.
Surprised no one's mentioned the new Odyssey update. I always thought it was a missed oppotunity they didn't have the Sunshine outfit in the game at first, so I'm glad it's here, along with the other ones (Ruined Kingdom finally gets some love, yay!). Also, Luigi's Balloon World looks awesome, and it's definetly a very clever idea, although I'm afraid people are gonna be hiding balloons in very hard to reach out of bounds places. Also, Tropical Freeze and Kirby looks pretty cool, I might give them a try.
I wish the Balloon World mode was something you could do locally, like if I wanted to play it with someone, send them out of the room for a minute, go and hide a balloon and then swap with them and have them try and find it.
The Pokken Tournament DLC is an overpriced joke, I think it's $22.50 in Australia and it adds... 2 characters. I could buy a decent quality indie game for that, or a AAA title on Steam for sale. Not worth it. To buy the game + DLC digitally is $112.45.
Honestly wasn't that surprised they didn't give Luigi some kind of two player mode thing in Odyssey, but it is cool to at least see him in the game. I'm also really looking forward to the new Kirby game.

It’s just weird to go back to Luigi not being playable since he has been in every 3D Mario since Galaxy. Though, it could have to do with the outfits, which I’d understand.
