Welcome to the official Mario Fan Games Galaxy Discord server! Before posting, be sure to read over our rules:
[0] Use your common sense. If you don't think you should be doing something, or if a moderator says you shouldn't, then don't do it.
[1] No harassment or outside disputes. Bullying, discrimination, or general unkindness towards anyone will not be tolerated, even if the member in question does not have access to the chat. If you can’t say something without being passive-aggressive, insulting, sarcastic, or rude, then don’t say anything at all. Outside disputes or private affairs with other people, such as arguments, drama, and gossip from external sources are not welcome either.
[2] Avoid posting NSFW material. NSFW material includes, but is not limited to, graphic violence, nudity/other sexual content, and excessive profanity. While imagery or conversations on nudity or sexual content are not allowed at all, we ask you to provide a warning on other NSFW content and describe why it’s NSFW before posting. An NSFW link must be posted between <> so it is not automatically embedded into Discord.
[3] Don't violate Discord's terms of service. Illegal content and other content that would violate their terms of service (such as pornography or posting/showing how to obtain ROM files) is not allowed.
[4] Be civil when in an argument/controversial discussion. A healthy dialogue between different views can be a great thing if it remains constructive. While we don't encourage discussion of controversial topics (like politics or religion), it also isn't inherently banned. At staff discretion, you may be asked to move your discussion elsewhere (such as a different channel or through DMs) or to drop it altogether if a conversation is being dragged out or if some members are getting heated with one another. Breaking other rules (such as rule 1) during such an exchange may result in further punishment.
[5] Be mature. Here are some tips on how to avoid being immature and avoid a warning, kick or ban:
-Know the rules and follow them. Violating numerous rules at a time and becoming a repeat offender is not what we see in a mature user.
-Keep content in its appropriate channel. For example, don’t post bot commands outside of #bots or post any significant spoilers outside of #spoilers.
-Don’t needlessly ping users or role groups unless you have a good reason for doing so.
-Avoid spamming or posting memes outside of #scrooge-mcduck-galaxy. Even so, keep it to a minimum and don’t flood the channel.
-Avoid constant, blatant advertising of your work. It's fine to showcase projects you’re working on or chat groups you’re in, but keep it reasonable. Don’t bury other people's work in the showcase channels with your own or constantly bring up your chat group/website in an unrelated conversation.
-Don’t use special characters in your nickname that would make it hard to reach you or to read other people’s posts (e.g. zalgo text).
-Leave the moderating to the staff. Ping or PM the staff if someone is bothering you; being a backseat moderator often comes across as annoying rather than helpful.
[6] Remember that the staff are people, too. Staff members work on a voluntary basis to ensure that everyone is having a good time. Although they aren’t perfect and do make mistakes, don’t harass the staff or make them feel unwelcome. At the end of the day, they are a part of our community and are here to have fun too.
In the event that someone is constantly skirting the rules and actively bothering enough members that it becomes something the staff is repeatedly contacted about, action may be taken on a case-by-case basis. No one really wants to do this, but it can be necessary in some situations.
With that out of the way, feel free to have fun!
