The five entries with the most nominations per category will move into the final voting, which will begin in a week. After the final voting ends, the staff will tally the votes and the winners will be announced.

We will list several games and hacks on a weekly basis (we will refer to this as the “weekly list”). Each user has to earn points depends on what kind of game/hack they have reviewed. We recommend to review what is listed on the weekly list but you are free to submit a review that is not on the weekly list. If your review does not abide to the main site submission rules, you will not get your points. Depending on number of participants, we will get 1-3 winners based on the highest points. We will update our weekly list on Sunday.

Here are the rules for points, please understand that the numbers of the reviews apply based on the number of reviews at the start of the week (at the time we update our weekly list):
  • 5 points - writing a review on a game/hack that is listed on the weekly list

It's no secret at this point that the userbase of MFGG is fractured. And I mean the whole userbase - including those of us at the top.

For one reason or another, an undercurrent of bad blood has built up, and it absolutely is negatively impacting the site. It's affecting morale. It's unwelcoming to any newcomers. And I fear that it's causing some people to act out, adding to the problem, not helping to fix it.

I wonder, sometimes, why people who have such an apparent distaste for an Internet community don't just leave. Why bother staying somewhere you hate being? Why put yourself through that, getting angry, lashing out, getting angry when people push back, it's a vicious cycle. As someone who has left communities before, because they were full of angry, hateful people, and never looked back, I've begun wondering why I stay here, as well. I fear that MFGG is approaching that precipice, and if something isn't done about it soon, it may well fall in and never come back.

I want it to stop, I want it to change. And there was the answer to my question. I'm still here because I want MFGG to improve and change for the better. That must be why some of these other folks are still here too, right?

But change does not come easily, and it does not come without sacrifice. It must start from within - before I can change MFGG, what must I change about myself, first?

I think it's fair to say a lot of this bad blood stems from some certain events in the past few years that resulted in a severe schism, broken friendships, broken trust. I simply didn't witness any of that - or perhaps, I simply didn't want to have anything to do with it. "It's just dumb Internet drama," after all. I simply didn't want any part of it. That, therefore, must be my change. In order to change MFGG, I have to be willing to look at that which I averted my eyes from, consciously or no. I have to hear the whole story - all stories. Not just of that one, but of any other stories that have led to this buildup, that have led us to this mountaintop, this perilous peak from which we are perched, a moment away from falling into the abyss.

If you are dissatisfied with the state of MFGG - for any reason - send me a PM. Tell me why. Tell me what happened. Show me what happened. Be honest. Be blunt. Provide evidence. Point fingers. Take responsibility. If you've got a problem with me, say it straight to me. If you've got a problem with somebody else, let me know. I will not ban you for speaking your honest mind. I will not reprimand you for attacking another user through your PM to me. This is your chance to get it all out onto the table.

I promise nothing. I cannot promise I'll agree with the events as you tell them. I cannot promise I can fix what you think is broken. I cannot promise I will respond to you, and if I do, I do not promise you will like what I have to say. I cannot even promise that this really will bring the change that is needed so desperately.

But I will listen. I will give you a chance. I will do my level best not to assume. I will not immediately run to whomever you badmouth to let them know the terrible things you have said about them - that includes the admins. It's been a while since we've written a Game of the Month topic, and Go! Go! Gooble!! gives us an excellent reason to revive this feature! Q-Nova's latest minigame is one of the relatively rare Super Mario Sunshine fangames on MFGG. In this game, you control a Gooble - the goop-spreading blobs from Sunshine. You're on the run from the Delfino Plaza police force that want to put an end to Delfino's graffiti problem! You try to survive as long as possible while collecting coins and Shines. You earn points for collecting these goodies, and you also get a bonus for each second you survive. At first, the game is simple - you only have to dodge the Fluddroid that's trying to give you a permanent bath. However, as the game progresses, you'll encounter new enemies and obstacles in your path! Most of the graphics are made by Q-Nova himself, and it's always nice to see fangames with distinctive graphical styles. The game also includes an online high scores system, which greatly enhances the game's replay value. If you're looking for a flood of fun, I encourage you to give Go! Go! Gooble!! a go.

GOTM topics are now back to their monthly schedule, but we're tweaking the format: In even-numbered months, we'll choose a recently-released game that's well-made and creative. In odd-numbered months, we'll invite the community to nominate games for the GOTM, regardless of how long it's been since the game has been released. We hope this new format will continue to reward members who contribute awesome games, as well as giving us an opportunity to recognize fun games that might have fallen under the radar.]]> Go! Go! Fun With Despair has been doing a great job of watching over the MFGG Discord, and now he's going to help us increase the fun and decrease the despair on the MFGG mainsite!

Hypernova will also be helping out as a mainsite comment mod. He has been doing great things as a Tech Admin and helped build the new system for improving comment moderation, so it only made sense to let him make the mainsite hyper-awesome!

We were impressed by everyone who applied, and it was hard to choose just one (or two, as the case may be!). If you weren't selected, don't despair - we hope you'll apply the next time we're looking for new staff.
