okay this is going to be a collection of thoughts I have that I really want to air out. maybe a productive conversation could come out of it having seeing veteran members returning and some of them talking about their past experiences and also my own experiences with online communities and human relations.
I just want to say that I will fully admit I have negative rep and noone should care about what a disliked person should say. However I think its a vicious cycle when people who don't like you or hell even hate you just don't explicitly allow opportunities for people to change instead of typecasting them for whatever reason into a box when they should just try to tolerate that person bc they can change and they need to recognize it. I have seen this in many communities im in, including here.
Without forgiveness or having the kindness to tolerate people, this is why they feel like nothing they ever do to prove to people that they are making efforts to change matter if all that goes with them is a stigma that they are paying for...for the actions that they did to earn it. It's punishment enough just to have a stigma attached... When their efforts to change and I mean genuine efforts go unnoticed or rejected bc of how some of their actions in the past defined who they are to those people as a reason to close off seeing them change to be better people...this is why they feel justified in blaming others for continuing on this vicious cycle and the world and why I sometimes feel sympathetic to them, unless they cross more lines as a result. Regardless, it feeds into my cynicism.
