When you are asking for something to help you/someone is asking to help them on a fan-project (no matter what it is), you should probably try to do a background check on them to make sure that they haven't done anything extremely terrible (read: controversial things).

If in the situation that person is revealed to have done that sorta thing AFTER you have brought them on board your team/join theirs, try to immediately make a statement saying you don't endorse whatever action they have done, possibly disassociate from them and, in some cases, probably remove them from your team/leave their team.

Just because someone has talent in X area, doesn't mean that they may be a nice person.

I don't have anything else to add really, other than probably use some common sense, and that I might've worded this extremely oddly despite thinking about this in my head for a while.

PS: If a mod sees this post and doesn't think it belongs in this channel they can move it to another more appropriate one.
