Nearly two weeks ago, @geno7 uploaded a YouTube video essay about Mushroom Pancakes, a wacky Mario fangame by supertoad2k. I found out about it just now, watched it, and decided that MFGG needs to see this:
It's a pretty well-made video! I like how it touches on the history of MFGG and Mario fangames to give context for Mushroom Pancakes, and it's really interesting to see how the game can sometimes get actually smart and clever underneath the wackiness and absurdity. I always thought supertoad2k was a very talented fangame creator. Like, the level design in Wario vs. Windows (and Yoshi vs. Windows to some extent I suppose) may be some of my favorite in Mario fangames as a whole, modern ones included! I hope he's doing very well in life, wherever he may be...
