A lot of editors make it difficult to use the Tab key for actual tabbing, since the Tab key is also important for navigating to different page elements if you're not using a mouse or touchscreen.
The best way to do this is to open Notepad, add a tab symbol, and copy and paste it into the editor. Alternatively, you could use the Alt-0009 shortcut to insert a tab.
The quick reply could possibly benefit from all the normal bells and whistles that you get in the normal reply. I think there's a way to enable that, I'll have to take a look when I get some time (unless someone else wants to).
Failing that, I'd like to add a "full editor" button or whatever it's called next to the Post Reply and Preview Post buttons on the quick reply.

Did you ever get around to looking into this?
If not, no worries. Just checking through old suggestions.
