It's important to remember that you're not alone in this, and many people struggle with mental health issues. I'm glad that you're moving towards progress in your own self-care.

I myself struggle with some issues, and sometimes my anxiety is overwhelming. I cope with it more or less successfully using these tips on grounding anxiety: https://fherehab.com/learning/grounding-...r-anxiety/. I will tell you a little about my past.

I had an abusive dad how used to beat my mom and threaten her with violence. I also was picked on a lot in school. Growing up, I had a very bad temper that got me into far more trouble than I was worth. It was not so long ago when I was unable to hold a job because of a combination of incompetence and being unable to get along with others.

I still remember about 15 years ago when I got into a very bad accident. I totaled a brand new car. I still remember crying in the bathroom at work. It was then that my colleagues, friends, and family comforted me in a way that I never felt before. Since then, my life has been on the up and up.

To Mariotoid and others: going to see a psychiatrist or therapist might help. In this modern society, there is no longer any shame if a person feels the need to talk about his or her problems to a professional. I do have two warnings. First, not all of these therapists, in my experience, are helpful or competent. Some of them can be real meanies. Second, be careful if you are proscribed psychotropic drugs. You might find that your judgement, attentiveness, and concentration will be addled far more than if you drink alcohol. Be especially aware if you have a job that involves dangerous work.
