Purely on a mechanical level, this is objectively false.

I mean if you feel that way go ahead but the first Generation of Pokemon is super super flawed and glitchy, so much so that the game has multiple times just randomly crashed on me.

There may be some reasons why it is your favorite game in the series, like the anime cameos for instance, but I can't agree that it's the the best game in the series... Based upon its gameplay mechanics as well as the issues that the game has associated with its hardware and Game Freak's infancy as a company, it is objectively inferior from a technical level to the games that come after it.

Mechanically and graphically, it's hard to say the first generation is the best. The engine is held together with tape - cramming this amount of gameplay into such a small amount of space was quite a technical feat, and in doing so, GameFreak made a game with amazing glitch potential. The graphics are also limited - for example, the 151 Pokemon are represented by only a handful of sprites.
However, there are many reasons why the older Pokemon games are often more enjoyable than the newer ones. The gameplay is simpler, and the story doesn't take itself very seriously. That can be a good thing! The first generation has some of the most memorable Pokemon designs, and there's also the nostalgia factor for a lot of people. (It's also a lot of fun to exploit the game's multitude of bugs - people have used them to do some amazing things.) Course clear! You got a card.

I got a GBA with 2-3 Pokemon games the other day.
This one's good, but I'm liking Gold more. I'm kind of confused with the titles too. I think there two separated Pokemon games identical in every way but title for each release. Why do they do that?

Pokemon is a game built on trading (and selling ridiculous amounts of games to generate profit).
Each version of the game has its exclusive sets of Pokemon, forcing you to trade with someone who has the other version to collect them all. |
