I'm a huge Nintendo fan boy at heart, it happens to be the reason I joined this forum, but I can't overstate how much I love the 3ds.

I own a "new" 3ds xl and I am in love with this thing, I have my favorite GB and GBC games on virtual console, I have my favorite DS games which I get to play there and the 3ds library is pretty vast.

My friends who got a switch and never owned a 3ds frankly don't know what they're missing out on, in my view.

Does anyone else here own a 3ds?

I owned a 3DS, it is a midnight purple 3DS. I had a few cool games on it, and owned only 2 VC games, which was Super Mario Bros. from Club Nintendo and Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons from when Club Nintendo was ending.
It is sadly broken, leaving me with my switch, but I am looking to replace the broken handheld with a New 3DS XL too, plus I luckily still have the SD Card with the data on it.

I'm pretty over it. It was good to me over the years but now I just wish the games for it would come out on Switch instead so I can have a superior experience with them.

Imagine if the Luigi's Mansion remake were coming to Switch instead with HD Graphics and such!

I think the 3ds only has 3 real advantages over the Switch:
- It's more portable
- Battery lasts longer
- Different library of software

The double screen and 3d are nice gimmicks but I don't really feel like they're something that really adds much to a game. The form factor isn't really something I find too great either (smash 3ds was awful on my hands lol).

So for the time being I'm much more looking forward to newe games on the Switch, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't play something new that came out for the 3ds that I was more interested in.

Yeah but prior to the Switch, the 3DS was awesome. It wasn't as groundbreaking as the original DS was, but it had a pretty great library and the older models are backwards compatible with the original DS library which made it even better.

Also a personal thing, but a lot of 3DS games, especially first party ones, were designed with short play sessions in mind which is great for someone like me with less time to play during the day.

I have the 3DS and I liked it a lot. I don’t use it much anymore because I don’t really play games on the go anymore.

I don't have a 3DS, but I wouldn't mind having one. There are a bunch of 3DS games I'd like to try.

vinny, if i weren't so broke, i'd up and buy you a 3DS. you and i are both fire emblem fans, and i feel like you've missed out on some great ones. plus i want to know which one of the awakening ladies your avatar would want to end up with... i mean, what? i didn't say anything.

that said, i think i agree with pedigree in a way. i love this system, but i feel as if it's past its prime. then again, i felt the same way about the DS when the 3DS had just come onto the scene way back when i wasn't a crochety old man- i wished that the 3DS wasn't being passed over in favor of the DS. then again, perhaps i should have expected this when the predecessor to the 3DS was the second best selling console of all time.

I still haven't gotten a hold of Fire Emblem, I've heard that there are multiple Fire Emblem games for the 3ds. Which one is the best?

What were the most favorite games of those here who have a 3DS?

My favorite 3DS game is Zelda A Link Between Worlds. I also like Animal Crossing New Leaf but I rarely play it because I'd rather  play any of the other games in the series. Smash Bros is good too but I don't play that much either. I had a great time with Tomodachi Life and M&L Dream Team.

i think i might like fire emblem echoes the best. none of them are bad, though i don't feel like the birthright and conquest modes of fates are as good as the revelation campaign. birthright and conquest made me wish i was playing awakening and an older fire emblem game, respectively.

I loved the 3ds, great library of games. Dream Team, Samus Returns, Mario 3D Land, Luigis Mansion 2 and a litter of other games and other Virtual Console games litter my library.

I really liked the controls for most games and definitely it' pick up and play style. However, it was definitely time to move on.

I find it odd that there are people playing SNES and gameboy games today while at the same time saying that everyone should move on from the 3DS, which the SNES and gameboy pre-date.

The whole premise of Mario fan games is playing fan made NES and SNES era mario clones, apparently, the original creator of this website didn't get the memo when it came time for him to "move on".

It's not the gamers playing the 3DS that are expected to move on, it's Nintendo themselves. It just feels like a missed opportunity when Nintendo keeps putting new games on the 3DS when they could support their new hybrid console/handheld instead.

For instance, Luigi's Mansion looks terrible on the 3DS. The Switch would've probably handled it much better.

Or, even better release both a 3DS and a Switch version like with Captain Toad for instance.

I agree that the Switch should also get a Luigi's Mansion game. That said, they're an over 5000 employee company. I wouldn't say that it's a waste even if they would only dedicate 100 people to the 3DS. I don't know how many do actually work on it but I'm assuming that it's probably less than 1000 at this point.

I didn't know only 5000 employees at Nintendo. Does this count all first party developers? Of course, I know this doesn't count third parties.

...i want to work for Nintendo.

At least 3DS games are cheaper. I don't mind that at all.
