Not Listed in Their Affiliates Sections
  • The Spriter's Resource
Fixed!!!

No Longer Updated
  • The Shyguy Kingdom - last site update 2009, last forum posts in 2015

Forevermore Broken/Down?
  • Metroid Fan Mission
  • Metroid HQ

Working/Updated Affiliates That Have Us Listed
  • GIR
  • Mario Wiki
  • SM64 Hacks
  • Super Luigi Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. X
  • SMW Central
  • Talkhaus
  • The Sapling Forums

This means only about half of our affiliates are working and linking back to us. This could be another reason activity is so low this year compared to last year in addition to other factors like Nintendo popularity.

This affiliates listing needs to be updated badly.

Talkhaus lists MFGG as an affiliate, it's just that the links on top of the forum cycle between different affiliates

We continue to add to it, but we haven't pruned it in a while.

M:FM very recently went down. I'm still in denial.

Didn't MHQ also go down recently?

The Shy Guy Kingdom is a piece of fangaming history. Idk if that means we should keep it though.

As for us not being listed on the first three, that sucks. We do need to look into that.

Metroid HQ has been down for a days now with seemingly no mention of it on its social media, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and missed the posts. I don't know what's up but it's not getting better.

Metroid: Fan Mission may be dead forever if BRPXQZME is also not being maintained. If you have connections, I would see what's going on with both of these sites.

I think that if a site is deceased (even if it was great and we will miss it) I think that we should remove the affiliate link. its no use to our fans sending them to dead sites.

Techokami ran mfm, of course. We should contact him and see if he can do anything about brpxqzme. At least get the data.

Thanks for checking on this. I'm not sure how much traffic we get from our affiliates, but it certainly doesn't hurt to make sure that all our affiliates are active and are linking back to MFGG.

  • Super Luigi Bros.: We're still in the affiliates list for them. Look carefully.
  • TSR: Does anyone know any of the current TSR admins? We should see if they'd be willing to put us back on their affiliates list.
  • Both Metroid sites: I'm going to remove these unless someone can give me some indication that the sites are going to come back from the dead.
  • The Shyguy Kingdom: This site hasn't been updated in about a decade. It might still be a useful resource, as there may be sprites on TSGK that aren't available on MFGG or TSR. Not sure, though.

Call me a nostalgic fool, but I think TSGK still deserves a place for being such a significant site. Maybe if it got a greyed-out button, however, to reflect its inactivity.

FWIW it's still got some custom/edited sprites not on tSR as far as I know.

As far as VG Resource staff members go, the only one I think I'm still on good terms with is Tonberry; however, even SmithyGCN is having a bit of trouble contacting him. On top of that, regardless if my Skype account is still working, I'm not sure if Dazz has any amount of respect for me anymore.

With all that said, if we want to reestablish an affiliation to the VG Resource (or the Spriters Resource as some people call it), I think both should go beyond a link and sharing resources.

What on earth do you mean? The only other option is to pay for advertising there.

We're not going to merge with them or anything on that level. The mission for both sites is way too different.

What I mean is that I would like it if both sites were to learn a few things from each other. For MFGG, they could learn a few tricks about pixel art and gain more talented spriters. As for the VG Resource, both the userbase and staff could consult the staff here on how to maintain a more positive attitude.

MFGG staff is nothing but a horrible bunch of people who rob the citizens of chicken and give it to themselves.

Do you have anyone else in mind for providing a positive example to the VG Resource staff in that case? The only other site staffs I could think of are DK Vine and possibly Starman.net.

Please don't bring outside disputes to MFGG. It would be for the best if you stopped publicly alluding to tSR's in a negative way.

I posted a topic on VG Resource inquiring about affiliation with MFGG.

Related: The Spriter's Resource expanded to a network of different resources called "The VG Resource" years ago, so should we update our affiliation links to use this name? Keep in mind "vg-resource.com" links to their forum, so if we did it might be best to keep the link linking to spriters-resource.com. Then again this might be confusing, so IDK.

Thanks for making that topic. That was a good thing to do.

I'm fine with keeping the banner as TSR, but if it would be better to use the VGR branding, it's not that hard for me to change it.
