Gotta agree here. If you got 10 year old beef, its probably well past its expiration date. I don't think you have to forgive anyone but at least give them a fair chance- its been so long. I don't think anyone wants what we did as children held against us forever.

RE: Users that you miss - EDGE - 07-20-2019

This thread quickly went from "Users that you miss" to "Users I don't miss and despise".
Hence why we stand were we stand now, don't be party poopers fellow MFGGers!
I'm sure there can be another thread for this personal attacks and how to solve them, right?
Personally I don't see how someone's gender has anything to do with the intent of this website, I also don't see why someone would hate someone based on their gender.
It's a touchy subject I suppose but yeah... I thought this thread was about "Users that you miss".
Hope everyone has a great day and we can reflect and improve on past events and not keep dragging them.

RE: Users that you miss - Flygon - 07-20-2019

Admittedly, this thread has been eye opening at how much the MFGG community shattered - It makes me realize how bizarre it is that I retained a lot of MFGG contacts. Or even just knew where a lot of people went.

I haven't really contacted these about rejoining MFGG. I figured that if they haven't rejoined here, and I know that General Guy can track them down with relative ease - if he goes outside of the email comfort size, I do feel uncomfortable popping up to them after several years of silence saying "Hey, MFGG's back!".

iunno, am I overthinking this?
There is so many MFGGers out there. Ones that haven't popped up, that I know are still around. General Guy has only scratched the surface.
I guess that's why I missed less people than I thought I would?

RE: Users that you miss - Shadow Administrator Drei - 07-20-2019

I apologize for tacking on the "especially coming from you." It can and was construed as an attack when I was just trying to exacerbate the amount of disagreement I had with Diantha's statements. I should have been more aware of how my words would impact others.

Recent, feel free to actually make legitimate points.

RE: Users that you miss - Mors - 07-20-2019

Are we really arguing about this? Please, cut it out. This is not the place to start meaningless arguments.

Back on the main topic, I've joined the actual community around what, 2012? It's been 7 years yet I still see so many unfamiliar faces here in this thread, it's kinda crazy.

As for who I really miss... I dunno really! I guess I miss everyone I got to meet back then. I got to keep in contact with some of them via Twitter and Discord but I haven't seen some of them for years.

You're one of the few I've met outside of MFGG. So it's pretty cool I get to be familiar with someone who has joined the community way well after my time!

While true, but this is also a person I had several uncomfortable encounters with years after I've left the forum and I heard not so great things about him even years after those encounters too. It made me doubtful the person has changed, but I can be wrong.

However, if they've changed since then I'm willing to give them another chance. It's way less of a grudge and more or less just feeling very uncomfortable around such people who still behave the way they have done in the past.

RE: Users that you miss - Vert - 07-20-2019

My ears are burning!

This is actually a post I've been meaning to make for some time and I saw my name come up a few times, so might as well do it now. I joined this forum as an angry kid frustrated with his life in 2008 and a decade later, not much had changed! As a result I lashed out a lot on various online communities and it's a bit embarrassing to look back at my past behavior in hindsight, so I apologize for the people I've wronged here on the forums and the Discord. I know it's not an excuse (it's not supposed to be) but I've been in a bad head space for a long time in my life, particularly these last few years as I was forced to move into a dump full with aggressive criminals, quit my job out of frustration with the owner, the whole works. Very novel-esque, almost Dickens really.

This year has been really good for me though. I got a great woman in my life, I'm finally moving out into a nice little place, I'm working on some very exciting projects and I got a decent job lined up. Things are really looking up for me and I couldn't be happier.

Anyway, to get more on-topic, it's really nostalgic seeing some of these names come up. I really miss Char in particular. Super cool guy. I wonder if I still have his MSN lying around somewhere.

I totally understand but this might not be the best place to air out issues w/ people who aren't here anyway.

Yeah I agree. Not the best move I've made, so my apologies.

RE: Users that you miss - The Dark Warrior - 07-20-2019

something that ive been wondering - if you all that are here for a reunion, something that's been on my burning mind - do you still care about Mario fangames and ROMhacks made therein? Id like to know your perspective on that.

Fangames has been still a passion of mine even if the past 13 years where most of my efforts has been put into some indie games. That said, Emerald Ties (Sonic fangame) had plenty of work done during those years. And from time to time I mess with rom hacking tools on various IPs and I've been messing with SMBX recently, so yeah, still definitely into those stuff!

RE: Users that you miss - Yrr - 07-20-2019

im pretty disappointed in stir for acting as a f***ing reverse-ambassador for mw throughout this whole thread tbh

as for fangames im potentially gonna remaster the weird metroidvania i made ~10 years ago for its anniversary but im having some real trouble being motivated for it lol

RE: Users that you miss - Money - 07-20-2019

If it wasnt for Mario fangames and messing around a bit w/ the code of hello engine, i wouldnt have gone "oh i know how to do this" when i took an intro to programming class and subsequently gotten my degree in computer science

RE: Users that you miss - Mr. Yoshbert - 07-20-2019

When reminiscing about the 12 years I've spent on this site (god help me), these oldheads come to mind:
  • Demonlemon, the legend
  • Alex IDV
  • Zero Kirby
  • Chaoxys/ShyGuyGrey
  • supermariomaster
  • Glukom
  • Thunder Bro
  • RetroX
  • Maddox
  • Char
  • Sagg
  • Fujiko
  • YoshbotX000/LuckyZapper
  • That one user whose OC was a Shy Guy decked in army gear; his name started with an 'N' (EDIT: Neopolis, thanks Vitiman.)
  • Peardian
  • Subby
  • Alpha Mechant
  • Sword
  • Sponge
  • Jazz
  • Wiiboy
  • Mikeystar
  • Nnnkingston
  • Tragedy Anne
  • Simoniester
  • Toodles Team
  • Neini
  • Mecha (not Mecha the Slag, just Mecha)
  • Pip Bernadotte
  • Thrasher
  • Yukiko
  • Fiddy Three
  • TheMarioManiac
  • Sgt. Kenny
  • onpon
  • Thunder
  • Spritanium
  • T-Man
  • RoxxorzYourBoxxorz
  • Soideruda
  • Elyk19
  • Weston404
  • Matthew Coburn
  • Goombaking
  • Bacteriophage
  • Merit Celaire
  • Alberta Garcia Cleriques
I think I had some petty beef with a few of the guys I listed and vice-versa, but hey- that's all in the past. I miss them all the same.

RE: Users that you miss - Vitiman - 07-20-2019

The army Shy-Guy you're thinking of is Neopolis.

RE: Users that you miss - Q-Nova - 07-20-2019

Yeah, I've noticed that @chaoxys hasn't been here for a while now. I'm guessing he's busy with Midas Machine, along with perhaps some real-life stuff at the moment. It'd be nice to see him again, though.

You'll be happy to know that @Thunderbro, @Fujiko, @Sponge, and @Jazz are all here, @Mr. Yoshbert!

Anyway... WOW! @DustinVG! You're back! How has Super Ancient Keys been coming along? It's great to have you once again, btw!

Also...
