Now ask how many of these games people own / have owned. It'll likely be a much smaller number!
No idea how many I've played. Probably most of them at one point or another, except for obscure things like Hotel Mario or Mario is Missing etc.

I don't think it's possible to play 90 Mario games without even pirating one.
And that's the reason of why I've only played like 10-15. Because I'm crazy and I only want the original copies.

I've owned most of the Mario games I've played. A lot of the SNES and NES games I have only played on illegal emulators, but some of them I've played on VC. Most N64 games I have played have been on VC, but I do own a N64 so I have some on the actual console. I have played the original Super Mario Bros on an arcade machine at school, and I've played Donkey Kong and Mario Bros many times on various arcade machines since was a little kid. I also counted some that I do not own but have played at friend's houses, including Mario Kart on the N64.
These are the Mario games I have personally owned legally, including VC, that I can remember off the top of my head:
