October Ordeal looks really cool. Do you plan to have a release ready by Halloween?

Id wish if it was a full release, but the release id realistically can expect would be a 10 level demo. Why? It is because there is still quite a bit that needs to be made, graphic and ASM-wise, on account of certain levels needing those tileset and background resources for their thematic contexts that I need, as well as the overworld that needs to be designed with fully custom graphics (which is why ive been asking for the past 4 months that i've been looking for pixel artists by asking them, with some success in that they agree to do it and be done as soon as their job is complete, paid or otherwise depending on the artist, but id rather have a formalized team tbh which so far I have not been lucky at all, even with signalboosting on Twitter, which is what my project needs since I am ultimately only one guy who can only do so much with his current abilities for game design being doing graphics himself (not that active) and level design (better at it).)).

Time to dust off the old topic.

Its in the middle of 2019, unfortunately no new levels were made for October Ordeal, but resource assets have been made this year that are going into the hack. Let's start off with the updates to the player characters that I have updated alongside with Neweegee from the initial 2018 debut of the new Redrawn-style Mario Bros in 3/4ths perspective.
Note - Pink Squares is New, Yellow Squares is Old.




You will notice why there is more of Mario's frames being shown instead of Luigi's? Simple, its because unlike Luigi that chaoxys made for me, Mario was still tied down with sporting that Mario Party Advance look that icegoom literally took inspiration from in the original Redrawn Mario. I wanted to divorce that a bit more so that this Mario can stand more on its own like the new Luigi sprite does. This is most evident with the Small Formes, which while the adult frames did exist in the original, it also sported the kind of shape that is more akin to Baby Mario/Luigi. Here, I and with the help of Neweegee, adapted the big forme poses of the head and parts of the body to give them the apparence that they are adults entirely through and through.

Okay, some updates on my hack over the past month. There is not much, but they are still worth showing.



First off, we have the outside of Peach's Castle, created by Gaem_0n on commission. The inside is not made yet at the moment but I am going to be looking into that real soon.

The second is two scenes for another earlygame cutscene sequence, done by a close friend of mine from the days I used to work on an ambitious Mario fangame project that ended up dead in 2016. These two were made on commission as well.

I am still in need of people who can do pixel art for tilesets and backgrounds but as of this time, I am specifically am in need of people to do 160x144 px pixel art cutscenes. I am still a solo dev and I cannot sprite the cutscenes all by myself considering my skillset is specialized towards tilesets and backgrounds.

Personally, the cutscenes here is essential to this hack's presentation in order to stand out from the rest of SMW hacks, and also considering NCFC will be happening on October 30th. I would like to release a demo by then this year which is dependent on that. I do have the drafts and references to show if you would like to apply.
