Yoshi's Island is still one of the best games there's ever been.

Also, I've been getting back into Final Fantasy VIII and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. An interesting juxtaposition.

On another thread you said you were on disc 2, correct? What do you think of the junction system so far? Personally, I feel like VIII has the best combat system of the PS1 entries on the system.

@littlelum Yeah, I'm still in the first part of Disc Two. I just returned to Balamb Garden.

I haven't played FF9 yet, but FF8's Junction system is really creative and fun. It's neat how they use it to replace JRPG mainstays like equipment and MP.

I've finally gotten around to playing the new Mario & Luigi game, Mario & Luigi: Brothership. I've been playing it for the past few days and have been enjoying it so far! My only complaint with the game so far is the fact that you can only select Luigi's actions with the A button instead of the B button (for those that don't know: in every other Mario & Luigi game before this one, you select Luigi's actions with the B button), it sucks that there isn't a setting in the settings to change that. Still enjoying the game nonetheless, though!

Ever since someone pointed out that this kind of looks like the surprised Pikachu meme I can't unsee it. LOL

Also, THIS GAME HAS FRICKIN' LIZARDS!!!!

(I don't know why I get excited every time I see lizards in the scenery. LOL)

I finally beat Final Fantasy VIII! I can see why it's a polarizing entry in the series (and one of the most polarizing video games period), but I enjoyed it.

I've been on one of my Mario Kart phases, playing time trials hoping to improve my rankings on the player's page. I've mostly played World, but I've also done a few on 8DX and SNES. I still haven't been able to do the SNES Rainbow Road without falling off or hitting a thwomp, but I came close, and shaved my previous best by around 14 seconds!

What did you think of Triple Triad? Personally, I gave up on trying to figure out strategies after a few games, so I mostly ignored that part of the game.

@littlelum I found Triple Triad to be interesting, but I didn't play it a lot, as I wanted to move forward with the story. If I ever find myself with infinite free time and I end up playing through FF8 again, I'd probably spend more time on Triple Triad.

And yeah, SMK Rainbow Road is pretty tough at first!

I have Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 on hand right now. I am about to finish FF1, but I am not playing in consistently (I started playing it in the summer). And then I will continue with FF2.

Knowing that FF has a huge library, do you have specific FF games you would recommend to me? I never played them growing up besides the Kingdom Hearts series, I don't know if that really counts.

I've only really played the PSX games, in addition to 1 and 2. VII is really good. VIII is one of those games where if you play it wrong you'll get screwed over near the endgame and it'll be too late to fix it. Tactics can be unbalanced and depressing. However, I would recommend all  four of them if you're interested.

And if you end up liking the story of VII, you might like Crisis Core (really sad ending though)

@NowhereMan If you have a lot of free time and you enjoy JRPGs in general, and you don't mind dealing with a bit of jankiness, I suggest playing the FF games in order of their original release! That's actually what I did, and I think it's a great way to experience them. Of course, I've only finished the first eight games in the series, and it's taken me 15 years...

FF6 is often the favorite entry in the series for classic gamers. FF6 is also a bit easier than the earlier FF games. FF6 has a big cast of memorable characters, and one of the all-time great video game plot twists occurs around the halfway point of the game.

FF7 is the most popular game in the series, and it's obviously a good starting point. FF9 would be a good choice as well.

And FF8 is a fun option if you want something a little different.

The newer FF games (everything beyond Final Fantasy X or so) have never appealed to me as much. However, I could be persuaded to give them a try.

Been playin' more Mario & Luigi: Brothership lately. I FOUND ANOTHER FRICKIN' LIZARD IN THE GAME AS WELL!!!!! OoO

Last night, I played Super Animal Royale for the first time since 2023. It's still a pretty fun game! :)

I've also played some Windowkill, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and Minecraft recently as well.
