Nintendo actually released one Super NES game, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, at the end of 1999. It seems odd that Nintendo of Japan was still releasing Super NES games deep into the Nintendo 64's lifecycle. I think Nintendo still viewed the SNES as a good vehicle for 2-D games, while focusing 3-D efforts on the N64. They also had things like the Satellaview that helped extend the life of the Super Famicom.
