the forums have largely been a ghost town outside of ppl who arent on or dont like the discord, theyre very dangerously close to being axed by this point. the forums are much better for cataloging fangame projects anyway
I can't stand Discord as a replacement for forums. I do have Discord, and tried keeping up and relevant with the MFGG Discord, but it's just too much at once in a live format that doesn't work well for any one who doesn't have a bunch of free time each day. You do get faster results for conversation, replying and answers, but it comes at the cost of the conversation between a set of people that might have been able to give input. It works fine if there's a small set of people in the server, but a large amount of people doesn't help. Too many times did the following happen:
- Had a lovely conversation, put a pause on it because I had to go do some sort of errand for anywhere between 20 minutes to a 9 hour shift at work. By the time I get back, I forget we even had the conversation, or what the topic even was.

By the time I get back, how the hell do I bring the topic back up without people saying "that was 8 hours ago, why are we still talking about it" or just generally having it be awkward.

By the time I get back, it's not even the same people I was conversing with, and I'm not going to ask a new set of people to scroll through thousands of messages to read a conversation I was having with some one else just so they don't repeat the same things we discussed already.
- Can't even have a conversation to begin with because 15 other people want to have their 5 other conversations at the same time.
- You try to engage in multiple conversations and... yeah, impossible.
It just works better on a forum format, you can keep a topic going without it being awkward, replying days later, and it's all good. But forums are dying, and social media has become the better, more modern way to keep this up without a live chat-like format. Too bad platforms like Facebook are horrendous for notifying you on comment chains on public posts, so most of the time if I try to start a comment and some one replies, I don't even get to know about it, and have to keep checking my Activity Log and sort through it (and most of the time, Facebook doesn't even single in on your comment, you have to go through all the comments to try to find it, so screw doing that).
