Man, I thought that I was going crazy. I less than halfway done with my first Mario game. It has taken me 2 years to build 37 stages and 4 years to build the game engine.

Now, I would like to ask expand on the first question. You said you programmed the game engine yourself. What language did you use? C++? Basic?
Also, did you use any special studio package like Direct X?
