Elon apparently has a deep sentimental attachment to the X.com name and decided he liked that name better than Twitter. (This is what happens when people have more money than sense!)
In the long run, Elon is toying with the idea of making X.com a "superapp" that combines social media, payments, and other features. This kind of thing has worked better in Asian countries than in North America. It would also be more likely to work if a broader base of users trusted Elon and Twitter in general.
@DJ Coco Yeah, social media in general has become overrun with spammers and bots, sadly.
And thusly, the one thing that Elon had sentimental attachment to, became the biggest detriment to the website he rebranded, and continues to go downhill from there, not helped by the fact that Blue-Sky social is their biggest competitor yet.
