General Sprite and Pixel Art Discussion

I am starting to work on the sprites, pixel art now. I do have Aseprite. Is it worth it? I started using it last night, and ended up just using Windows XP Paint to get my "grounding". I am using Aseprite now and it seems to be good, to swtich between to the two for me personally. 

Also I just wanted to say, that "basic" pixel art tutorial I posted is not "basic" at all, but pretty advanced.
