I'm a huge fan of GameMaker as I practically grew up on it, but I also like Construct. Both have drag and drop visual programming and scripting capabilities, so you can use whichever style of programming you feel comfortable with.
If you like either one but want a free alternative, there's Enigma and GDevelop respectively.
Whichever game engine or framework you choose, I suggest picking one that feels comfortable for you, stick with it and learn as much as you can about it. Switching engines will only slow down your progression. Good luck and have fun!
