This isn't a spite game at all tho and there's literally no implication of that whatsoever.

The name is based on how the Final Fantasy game numbers got screwed up for US releases. The foundation is just "you know what'd be funny?"

It's just our take on what could've happened after the events of Charisma 3. It's nothing but silly nonsense and it isn't intended to spite anyone. It literally makes no mention of anything like that.

It's a goofy April Fools game meant to return to an unfinished chapter and close it. What happened to the rest of the original Charisma crew? Now you know, and that's it.

I thought about that too but I figured we could consider it an alternate universe if the point was brought up

Well I played it for a bit and here's a quick ol' review majig:
The humour isn't what I would expect from a Charisma title, not to say it lacks humour. I only once had a sensible chuckle where in the other Charismas I can say a hearty LOL came out of me.
Graphics are well, can't really judge a Charisma game by its graphics but it seemed "off", unsure how else to say it.

Finally, it really hated the fact I was running it in WINE and not windows, which really put me off. Wouldn't even play audio, I will give a more in-depth review when I fix my windows installation.

I have no idea what the drama is about around this game so I will just say what I think about the game itself.
In terms of the humor I didn't really understand it. There were a lot of weird things going on at the same time that were hard to follow, so I guess it just wasn't my sense of humor. Though I haven't found the other Charisma games to be extremely funny, this one seemed even less so.
The gameplay was as good as any other Charisma game. It was functional enough for me to enjoy the first couple of levels, but the main focus was the humor so without understanding the humor I had no desire to go any further.
Not really my cup of tea, but I don't think it's a bad game. I can tell effort went into it and I'm sure there is a different demographic that will appreciate it.

Edit: It should also be known that I'm not very familiar with the other Charisma games either, or their "lore," so keep that in mind when reading my thoughts on the game.

Dumb forum drama I don't care about aside, this game is great! I love the art and music and all the stages were fair for the most part.

I think maybe stage 1 would benefit a lot from green protoman not getting stuck in the floor but it was still p good.

I wanna genuinely thank everyone for playing the game, and thank anyone who's even considering doing so or will do so, altho I definitely suggest playing through to completion if you can handle it.

We worked on it for a little over a month and we legitimately poured a lot of heart and soul into making it happen.

The game is extremely well made and it's clear a lot of effort went into making it. The large file size is rather off-putting, although I realize this is a limitation of MMF2/CF2.5, being very familiar with the program. I don't find the humour to be especially engaging, but some of the dialogue is amusing and it reminds me in some respects of Thingio - this isn't too surprising, seeing as I know Greeno is a big fan of Tech Wing's stuff.

Perhaps this can be a Charisma game for the edgier crowd. I do take some mild concern with the title, seeing as there's already a Charisma 4 and that could be mildly confusing for some folks. I do know that 3.1's name generated some confusion about whether or not it was Charisma 9 or some kind of "interquel" between 3 and 4, but rest assured 3.1 is just a silly joke name based off an old Microsoft OS and that it's most definitely Charisma 9. I might rename 3.1 to 9 in a future release to make this fact more clear.

All in all, it was amusing to see how two ex-Charisma League of Petco Employee members interpret the vast mythos of Charisma and all of the combined games' stupidity.

As always, have enjoyment, and thank you guys for being a part of the original games.

Alright, so, while I'm still looking at this with very opaque lens of skepticism, I'll give it a proper critique.

Gameplay-wise, it's solid, fairly well made. Definitely works as a game, though it has its frustrating parts. It's fairly polished as well.

However, a lot of the humor fell flat for me. Like, there's a part where you play as Greeno and have to open Wario's door from SML2, except instead of golden coins, it's... disembodied heads of various gaming figures. I mean, I know at least one person on the dev team likes poking fun at “gamer culture” and I concede that it can get ridiculous sometimes, but I feel like the joke there just boils down to “lol gamerz”. does the nostalgia critic even review games that often im not sure

BUT that's not to say all of it is devoid of funny moments or anything. StrikeForcer continues to be comedy gold, for instance, just like he is in the Vimimin-made Charismas.

I wouldn't trust that. But I played it anyways because I like to take risks.

I agree that the game itself is well made but the humors do not meet up with the standard. I enjoyed few difficult levels and that's about it. With the humor elements, I find it quirky.

I've had a very busy day, and I must slumber soon. I'll write a more detailed post tomorrow.

This game has some very clever gameplay elements and some fleeting moments of witty dialogue. It also has some mildly frustrating sections, as well as a lot of humor that falls flat. In particular, the lengthy conversation about feces was sophomoric and stupid.

Also, it would've been appreciated if you'd at least asked permission before using real-life photos of me, especially when it's a game with nonstop crude humor.

Addendum
I realized that I promised I'd write a more detailed review. I'd already written down some notes, and while I don't want to bump this topic at this point, here's a more detailed summary of my thoughts:

[+]Spoiler
I can tell you put a lot of effort into this game. I wanted to like SCIV, but there are so many things you could've done that would've made this a much more enjoyable experience.

300 MB is too big, especially for a joke game. There are probably many ways to better optimize the file size. Even if most people have high-speed Internet these days, Internet connections vary in quality, and massive downloads can still be a turnoff to some.

Multiple sections of the game are grating to listen to. I find loud profanity to be the most unpleasant sound in the universe, and two levels have characters screaming clipping-inducing foul language. Ew.

The DDR sequence was a good concept, but it was frustrating. Often you're required to press three keys at the same time, but computer keyboards make this difficult to do! It would've been better to do something like Left-Down-Right keys in quick succession, rather than simultaneously.

The S sequence was the funniest part of the game. This was the only part of the game that really felt like a Charisma game. The Inspector Gadget parody also made me smile.

Part of what makes the official Charisma games so effective is they're relatable to a surprisingly wide audience. While Charisma is, at its heart, a series of games about a group of friends and their in-jokes, the games' humor is accessible to those who aren't familiar with the jokes. SCIV, on the other hand, relies far too much on obscure references to carry itself. SCIV's references typically sailed several feet over my head, and I often found myself more confused than anything.

This game also would've been more effective if it hadn't relied so much on jokes at other people's expense (for example, the Kritter jab wasn't particularly funny and made the group seem more immature than witty).

The release of this game definitely ruffled some feathers, and understandably so. While Charisma is ultimately about a group of friends having fun, and nobody "owns the rights" to the concept, Vitiman is still unquestionably the person who tied them all together. This game would've gone down better if you'd acknowledged the existence of Dudim (who is, after all, the only character to appear in every Charisma game) and Miles (another Charisma mainstay who's appeared in almost every game).
Course clear! You got a card.

No offense but I felt like this is not really close to Charisma IV. The game play is similar but the story line/humor fits in an alternative universe. Therefore Charisma IV alternate would be a suitable fit for the series with my analysis. I would like to see this go in a different direction rather than sticking to the Charisma series.

I just figured there was sorta already a Charisma 4 so I made it this to eliminate confusion.
