@VinnyVideo, @Marcus Eralice: Your characters mosey on to the Stalactite Room, arriving just after the events of this post.

@Spriter: (4) Success

You shrug off your bit of disorientation and walk to the Stalactite Room with your acquaintances.

@Dustinvgmaster: Archibald picks up a stalactite chunk, automatically wielding it. It grants a meager +3 Attack. However, it seems you have failed to notice there is a hostile creature in your way! VOID MOLE A cuts you off and tries to take a bite out of you!

VOID MOLE A'S attack: (5) Perfect Success
Archibald Thatcher's dodge: (3) Partial Success

VOID MOLE A lunged viciously at Archibald! Archibald notices the attack just before it hits, but can't quite get out of the way. Archibald has taken 12 damage!

@recent: (1) Epic Failure

Trying to break the lock with your bare hands was apparently a bad idea. You punch the lock in frustration, only to hurt yourself and take 5 damage.

VOID MOLE B decides to attack you while you're busy failing at opening a chest.

VOID MOLE B's attack: (2) Failure

Only to miss its target completely.

...Yeeeaaaah. If there are hostiles in a room, maybe deal with them first.

"What unsightly vermin..." Ardella takes note of some of the others arming themselves with stalactites. "I see you two have taken the liberty of engaging them in combat." She scoffs, then glances down at some others on the ground. She begrudgingly reaches down to take one for herself, finding some difficulty in holding it with just one hand.
"I suppose you'll need our help..." Ardella makes her way up to Void Mole A, attempting to stab it with the stalactite.

It's been more than 48 hours since my last post, so some of your characters are going on autopilot. Can't keep people waiting.

To be fair, though, there aren't many options to choose from right now.

@recent: You swing that chunk of rock at the VOID MOLE that charged at you.

Caesar's attack: (5) Perfect Success
VOID MOLE B's dodge: (3) Partial Success

It barely reacts at all, taking 13 damage!

@Marcus Eralice: You make a stabbing motion instead at VOID MOLE A.

Ardella's attack: (4) Success
VOID MOLE A's dodge: (4) Success

Despite making a competent attack, VOID MOLE A has almost enough time to dodge. You just barely hit the enemy for 4 damage.

@VinnyVideo:

Todd's attack: (4) Success
VOID MOLE B's dodge: (6) Overshoot

VOID MOLE B makes so much effort to dodge that it accidentally rams right into the cavern wall at full force. It takes 6 damage from doing so. This causes another stalactite to fall on top of it, inflicting 7 more damage to it. The VOID MOLE goes up in a puff of smoke, leaving behind a pile of fine white dust. Weird.

@Dustinvgmaster (autopilot):

With hardly a thought, Archibald grabs a chunk and swings it at his attacker.

Archibald's attack: (3) Partial Success
VOID MOLE A's dodge: (5) Perfect Success

This one is able to avoid your attacks without killing itself.

@Spriter (autopilot):

As you attack with your newfound rock pick, you swing with uncanny precision and force. The rock pick's special properties become more apparent.

Johari's attack: (4+1) Perfect Success
VOID MOLE A's dodge: (6) Overshoot

... Although that doesn't stop VOID MOLE A from dodging so hard it isn't even in the room anymore. You hear a faint splash coming from one of the obvious paths. If you were coming from the Start Room, it would be on your left.

So, victory I guess? Your characters gain 6 XP.

Todd shakes some dust and grit from his hands. Were moles always this... unfriendly? He still struggles to remember much about life before waking up in this mysterious cavern.

Todd begins heading south in the hope that the passageway will lead to something worthwhile.

The first instinct of Johari was to swing at the mole - they were hostile, after all, but she couldn't help but feel a little bit sorry. Surely they were protecting their home?

But the mole had dodged.... right out of the room. Awkward.

She looked to the pile of dust, going up to it to analyse it. "Hmm... I suppose we'd have to find our way out of this..."

With that, she looked to the others. "Do any of you have any ideas?"

Ardella chimes in, her gaze focusing on the chest. "Gather what resources we can find... In mm- Our position, anything we find could be useful." Ardella tries to pry the lock off the old chest with the stalactite. "Could I perhaps get a hand with this, though?"

@VinnyVideo: Wait a minute, how does Todd know that way is south? He doesn't have a compass or any other navigation tools. Although these posts have maps, they're not maps he should have access to.

Eh. Todd goes the way he thinks is "south" anyway.

@Dustinvgmaster: You're not letting that mole get away! You chase it in the way opposite of the way Todd went.

@Spriter: (6) Overshoot

You're so fixated on inspecting the powder that you inadvertently take a big whiff of it. You almost instantly begin having a strangely appropriate trip. Your mind is filled with visions of animals and fantastic creatures. They came in all kinds colors, shapes, and sizes.

Colors? So far, you've seen barely anything with color. Then, somehow, you come to a realization:

The Void Moles you fought earlier weren't real. They were ideas (not very original ideas, but ideas nonetheless) given form and a semblance of life. Perhaps that has something to do with them being so easy to kill and them turning to dust when they die. Despite this revelation, you're at a total loss on who--or what--is responsible for void beasts existing in the first place. You don't even know how you came to that conclusion; you only have your intuition to tell you it is true.

Perhaps you could try making one yourself? Maybe by thinking really hard? Who knows. You should probably save it

You come to a few minutes later. The pile of magical dust is noticeably smaller, but still there. Despite injesting a mysterious unknown substance, you feel absolutely amazing and your mind is full to the brim with ideas.

(please don't try this at home)

@Marcus Eralice: (5) Perfect Success

You break the lock with minimal difficulty and help yourself to what's inside. Aside from bits of leather armor, you find a conspicuously yellowish amulet with an impure, yellow-green gem. It's a FLAWED CUT HELIODOR AMULET! Yes! The list of randomized magic jewelry is back! The quality's forced to be low considering it's early in the game, but it's still quite a nice find. As you wear it, your weapon has a faint green glow...

There happens to be several more sets of leather armor in there (wow how convenient), but carrying around loads of armor doesn't strike you as very practical. Unless you wanted to carry some for someone.

@recent (autopilot): Disgruntled at the fact that a woman easily broke the lock and you couldn't, you shove Ardella aside and snatch some armor for yourself before storming off to where Archibald went. Misery loves company; who better to spend company with than another grump?

Well, I mean, that seems in-character for Caesar to do. It's also in Ardella's character to hold nasty grudges. This should be interesting to watch...

Archibald and Caesar have entered the Waterfall Room.

You see a waterfall at least 15 meter high flowing into an underground pool about 20 meters wide and several meters deep. If you had some way to fly or to climb rock walls, there might be something of interest up there. But alas, you presently don't.

Bizarrely, the water is as unsaturated as the stone. That doesn't seem right. You remember water as having a bluish tint in large amounts. Why is everything so gray? The rocks, water, objects, moles... speaking of which, your VOID MOLE friend emerges from the water, ready to fight you once more.

Todd has entered the Spike Trap Room. That's a nice name for a room, ain't it?

This room looks considerably more dangerous than the previous parts of the cave you've visited. Most of the floor is covered with spike traps bursting out of the ground with great force at intervals of around 15 seconds. They fully retract 5 seconds later, giving you 10 seconds of time to run to each safe spot before being skewered. This obstacle looks MODERATELY difficult to traverse--moving through it requires a standard action roll, but it incurs no bonuses or penalties--but failing will certainly result in serious injury or death.

You notice there is a LEVER attached to the cavern wall on the far side of the room which may or may not disable the spikes, but just moving through the room requires a full turn. If there was only another way to reach it...

Well, you could just make a run for it. The rolls have been surprisingly good lately. But are you sure you want to press that luck?

"Hey!" Ardella yells at Caesar as he storms off. "That was entirely uncalled for!" She growls under her breath. "Damn mutt, ought to know your place..." She gets up off the ground and proceeds to take a suit of the leather armor for herself, putting it on. As she picks up her stalactite, she drops it in surprise as a virulent green glow emanates from it...

Wait, green?

She picks her weapon up again, staring at it, coming to realize that everything else around her lacks color. She puts the thought to the back of her mind. "There's something in the chest here for our protection. Suit up and let's make our way onwards..." She heads down the path Caesar didn't take.

Just to clarify something: Can the lever be reached without having to run over any of the spike traps?

Colours, as far as the eye could see. Yellow through red, green and cyan, with even the occasional purple. Johari relished in the sounds and colours the trip had made for her, even some animals.

They weren't real. Not... real....

Then, she heard something that made her come to.
Ardella Frost Wrote:"Suit up and let's make our way onwards..."

Clasping her head slightly, she stood up, noticing everyone had already gone seperate ways. So much for sticking together...
She then took one of the suits of armor (equipping it if possible) before following Ardella.

If you have questions, you might have an easier time getting my attention on Discord. I don't always check MFGG every day.

@Marcus Eralice: You make your way to the Spike Trap Room.

@VinnyVideo: Technically, yes. You could reach the lever without walking over the spike traps. But you'd have to be able to fly or affect it remotely somehow.

Johari was just given an ability that might be able to solve your problem, but your character doesn't know about that. Yet.

@Spriter: After putting on some leather, you follow Ardella to where Todd is.

By the way, I've been treating equipment changes as free actions. Don't expect the same treatment in a combat situation.

@Dustinvgmaster: You yell at the VOID MOLE. It does not seem to understand you. It doesn't seem to care. It only hates.

But what is Archibald saying, exactly? Why not try to flesh out your character by writing some dialogue?

@recent (autopilot): Two non-actions in a row? Where are you, man? Anyway, you respond to the VOID MOLE by trying to beat it up.

Caesar's Attack action: (4) Success
VOID MOLE's Dodge reaction: (6) Overshoot

These are supposed to be true random numbers! Bah! Anyways, the VOID MOLE overdodges again into the water.

Todd stares at the menacing sharp objects popping in and out. They seem to be moving in a very steady rhythm, so it shouldn't be too hard to time his moves properly and escape grievous injury. Despite Todd's fear or sharp objects, and the relative inefficacy of his meager armor, Todd decides to make a run for it. He might not understand why he's where he is, but whoever he constructed this maze wouldn't have installed these elaborate security mechanisms if they weren't trying to hide something awesome.

“Blasted void mole!” Archibald shouts, “This is a waste of both of our times. Don't you have mole things to be doing?”

Apparent that absolutely nothing he's saying is getting through to the mole, he goes back to fighting.

Ardella groans, seeing the obstacle ahead. "We're going to need someone a little more..." ~expendable~ "Expeditious for this one... What was its name again, Caesar? Yeah, I think they'll do. Be right back." Ardella turns right back around and begins making her way to the path Caesar went down.

(This would take 2 turns, yes?)

"That's bothersome..." Johari did not like the circumstances of the room she was now in. If something similar was in the other room, odds were they were facing some sort of challenge trial for others' amusement.... she did not care for that idea.

But right now, there was a bit of a problem in her hands - a room of jabbing spikes, and a lever. Perhaps something that flew could be of assistance... maybe with some way to handle the lever... wings and a way to grab onto things and pull them around.... an idea!
She attempted to create a rather wild hybrid of things... or at least, in her head - flora and fauna, to combine in a literal Cactus Wren*, large enough to at least be able to pull on the lever without difficulty.

(*Essentially, a Cactus Wren combined with an actual cactus.)

Well, I took more time than strictly necessary but here's an update.

It seems that recent is either too busy to post or just stopped caring about the game. Does someone else want to control the short-tempered pitbull man?

@VinnyVideo: Well, I warned you...

(2) Failure

The dice gods have taken away their blessings in the worst possible time. You trip just before making it to a safe spot amongst all these spike contraptions. Before you can drag yourself to safety, the spike traps trigger and one impales your left leg. You just manage to pull yourself to safety after the fact, but the serious injury took off 33 of your hitpoints, crippled you, and has left you a bleeding mess. And that's just great, beause you're stuck in the middle of a deathtrap.

Now, you don't remember much about the human body, but that red stuff coming out of you probably isn't a good thing. Come to think of it, the void creatures faced so far don't seem to bleed...

@Dustinvgmaster: Enough is enough. You're going to slaughter this thing.

Archibald's Attack: (6) Overshoot
VOID MOLE's dodge: (1) Epic Failure

You leap onto the VOID MOLE (which is currently swimming, mind), smashing your stalactite into its head. The sheer mechanical force shatters your stalactite, but your attack instantly slays the creature. You and Caesar gain 15 XP, which is more than enough to level up!

Much like the other void construct, it goes up in a puff and dust is all that's left. Because you were close enough to grapple the VOID MOLE, you inadvertently inhale some that dust while the rest falls into the pool.

Almost instantly, you're lost in your own little world full of animal memories much like Johari was. Unfortunately, this is happening while you are in water deep enough for you to drown. And you don't remember taking any swimming lessons. Flailing about to get out would be an action of MODERATE difficulty if not for you tripping on moles. Because of that, it will be HARD to escape (-1 roll penalty to your attempt) without assistance.

@Marcus Eralice: That would be the case, yes. Welcome back to the stalactite room.

@Spriter: (6) Overshoot

On a hunch, you try to make something out of nothing by thinking really hard. Though you originally concieved of a cactus wren, a poor understanding of what you're trying to do combined with overshooting results in creating a cactus harpy colored entirely in shades of green. She seems a bit more "complex" in nature than the void creatures you've faced so far, but she still isn't flesh and blood. She probably isn't "alive" in any biological sense.

She doesn't seem capable of speech, but you can command her to do a complex task when you take a turn. She'll automatically follow wherever you go unless you explicitly send her to a location. Once performing a task in a location, she will attempt to return to where you were when you sent her away.

Her ability to fly lets her stay out of harm's way from ground-based melee, but she'll be more vulnerable against ranged attacks and other flying enemies than she would have been as a ground-based familiar.

The result is more awesome than you had originally intended. However, creating this living mental image has given you considerable mental strain, sapping 20 PP.

@recent (autopilot): You look at Archibald with scorn. Why would he jump into a body of water if he didn't learn how to swim? Still, you don't want to be held accountable for his death by everyone else. Since he isn't far from the edge, you try to pull him out.

(2) Failure

It seems you're having trouble catching him, though.
