BEST CONCEPT:
Mega Man Maker by Mega Man Maker Team

It's Super Mario Maker but with Mega Man, what else can I say? Now you might be wondering why a game from 2017 is here, well, it was submitted to the main site in 2019 and it's consistently getting major updates, so as far as I'm concerned it counts!

BEST LEVEL DESIGN:
Super Mario Power Star Frenzy by Random.NICK

Probably one of the most ambitious and most well made Mario fangames ever made, and the latest demo of it comes with 45 really well designed levels! If you are expecting more of it though, well... It's unfortunately cancelled, but the Nick is currently working on his indie game so you might wanna check that out instead!

British Mario VS I.M. Meen by DrZuplow

2019 saw a lot, and I mean a LOT of joke games, and it seems like among them people thought that British Mario was the one that deserved more love.

MOST ANTICIPATED:
Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine by Team Midas

This game has been in development for more than a decade, yet people can't seem to forget about it. I'd consider that a good thing though, considering that it's very close to completion. Maybe 2020 will be the year of Midas Machine? We will see!

ROM HACK OF THE YEAR:
Super Mario: Endless Earth by MARIOFANATIC64 and Luigi's Other Mansion by TheHappyFaceKing

One of them is a hack of NSMB that turns the game into an open world game, and the other one is a Luigi's Mansion hack that makes enough changes to it to keep it fresh. These two can't get more different, yet it seems like they are both really good!

FANGAME OF THE YEAR:
Super Mario Power Star Frenzy by Random.NICK and Mario Takes a Three by MTA3 Team

We've already talked about Power Star Frenzy, it's a fangame with lots of well designed levels, and a ton of polish. There is really no other fangame at that level, so no wonder it's a winner. Congratulations Nick! Mario Takes a Three on the other hand is the level compilation game for the contest with the same name. It features several levels with... varying levels of quality, but hey, apparently the good bits were good enough for people to like the whole package! Plus you cannot deny that some of those bad levels kind of have that "so bad it's good" charm.

FANGAME OF THE DECADE:
Psycho Waluigi by Thunder Dragon

I mean, yeah, it of course is Psycho Waluigi! Do I need to say more? Even Nathaniel Bandy made a video on it. If Nathaniel Bandy made a video about it, it MUST be good!

Joking aside though, Psycho Waluigi really is an amazing game. Sure it might not have the best graphics and sure it might be a little bit clunky to control the Psycho Iris, but no other fangame out there has this level of creativity
Not to mention the rock solid level design and the whole atmosphere of the game.
It is hard to explain why this game is so great, you have to experience it first hand to believe it
