Stuff you did in 2020

The craziest year in memory is (mercifully) almost over! 2020 was an exceptionally rough year in so many ways, but I hope you found a silver lining or two.

Real Life Stuff I Did

• Started working from home every day in March
  
• Moved to a different team at work, finished a lot of projects, and improved the way we do stuff
  
• Earned a technical certification in Java programming
  
• Completed the Great Big Backup Adventure - successfully backed up all of my devices, including a circa-1991 Tandy (one of the hardest things I've done in my life!)
  
• Started walking/running longer distances more consistently - I'm now pretty consistent about hitting 10,000 steps every day
  
• Finished a lot of miscellaneous things I'd been procrastinating on forever
  
• Had some ups and downs with the special someone in my life, but we still haven't strangled each other!

MFGG/Creative Stuff I Did

• Updated a 2019 game about grammar and bovines
  
• Finished Satilla Complex, a 2017 minigame I'd never bothered to finish
  
• Fixed some bugs and released a new level for MFGG Emblem (probably the final version)
  
• Squashed many bugs in Quest for MFGG: The Game, my 2010 attempt at an RPG (play it at your own risk)
  
• Released a new version of Marioy 2 with many bug fixes and other improvements
  
• Finished a short dumb Game Boy-styled minigame I started in 2013
  
• Made a Football Team Name Generator (yay!)
  
• Updated the first two Game Maker games I ever made
  
• Worked on Career Fantasy and an indie platformer that had been on the back burner forever
  
• Started bug fixes for a few other older games of mine
  
• Did a little bit of music composition
  
• Revived MFGG Wrestling for a few weeks

Stuff I Didn't Do

• Didn't draw much of anything
  
• Probably didn't get COVID-19 (although I'm not 100% sure about that - March was interesting!)
  
• Didn't steal automobiles
  
• Didn't eat wood
  
• Didn't poach endangered species

Video Game-y Stuff That I Made
- Participated in the Summer Game Jam and finished a Games Factory game (that turns out bad don't play it)
-- In the same vein, I got a review from none-other than Vitimin!
- Made a bunch of experimental TF2 maps (https://tf2maps.net/members/yaki.30499/),

Real-Life Stuff That Happened
- Dropped out of school because of the pandemic,
- Retired by 6+ year-old phone for one version better,
- Hit rock-bottom in my mental health, YET this time I took accountability and now my life turned around...
- Renewed my Medical Insurance,
- Had our adopted cat live with us for a whole year!
- Started to wear shirts that had logos on them (but mostly Mario)

Stuff I didn't do in 2020
- Learn how to swim
- Learn how to visualize a project I want to finish, AND FINISH IT.
- Get 6-pack abs

Stuff I Hope for in 2021
- A vaccination for COVID-19 for everyone
- A library of completed projects by me
- Get more water in me, get more sun on me.

I lost 20kg, and bought my first home.

Covid and saving for said house pushed things back. Hoping to continue collecting retro games/consoles, and do a few house upgrades this year.

 

[Pedigree]

-Went to Disneyland in January. Had a lot of fun.
-Broke my arm in February. Shattered elbow and wrist due to ice.
-Quit my job to focus on school especially with work retaliating against me for broken arm restrictions.
-We moved from apartment into house with a new roommate.
-Got a 4.0 gpa this Fall Semester in college.
-Stayed in Breckenridge, Colorado mountains over the holidays.

That's probably it.
