Those are not really comparable. Mario Odyssey's desert world is just a world inspired by Mexican culture. There's nothing at all harmful about that, so I'm not sure what that person is going on about (I do hope they're trolling).
Ugandan Knuckles is making fun of an accent. That's a completely different thing.
I don't have a huge problem with the meme despite it being unfunny, but if the MFGG staff has told you to change your name and replace your avatar you might as well just do it. They are the authority here.
I'm not really against discussing a topic like this, I just think your refusal to do what the staff has asked you to do, especially after you've said it's a dead meme, is unnecessarily stubborn and comes across as an effort to cause conflict. A bad meme really isn't worth defending to the death.

Not really. Having a laugh at a group of people's expense isn't the same thing as wanting that group of people harmed or excluded based on their cultural identity. The only reasons the meme is considered racist is either because some people are unreasonably over-sensitive or feel like getting offended for the emotional protection of others.

Abstract social concepts don't even work that way. Sanctioning a meme that may have potentially racist attributes doesn't feed some centralized "racism" body that links into everyone in society like a network. Racism comes from the actions of individuals who are malicious in their intentions, regardless if the meme is perpetuated or not. If not Ugandan Knuckles, they'll find some other way of spreading their beliefs.

Having fun at the expense of another culture or race may not be the same thing as firing them for the color or their skin or committing a hate crime, but it sure has an impact on validating those who would do such things.

Kicking people while they're already down is also a pretty terrible thing.

You're not wrong but also, what's so bad about asking someone to not make fun of an accent or a culture? Is that so difficult now, is it asking far too much of somebody?

At this point, I haven't seen a lot of people from either side come closer to an agreement on our status regarding the acceptability of this meme. I feel both sides bring up valid points (but keep in mind, not all are valid) regarding whether or not it should be okay, but since there are more people who find it distasteful than those who do not, we've decided that it would be in everyone's best interest if this specific meme and other memes like it were not brought around here.

@"Ugandan Knuckles", we've asked this before, and we will ask again: either change your name to something less controversial, or knock it off altogether.
