I remember the Virtual Boy when it first came out, but to this day, I have still never played a Virtual Boy. Perhaps I should find a way to change that!

For some reason I find the virtual boy somewhat unsettling. I'm not sure why that is, but I would still like to play one some time even though it looks kind of uncomfortable to play.

Virtual Boy Wario Land is extremely underrated. It's probably the only must have game for the Virtual Boy - that is, unless you absolutely definitely need to play Nester's Funky Bowling, like we all do.

Honestly, the Virtual Boy strikes me as a console that could've been actually really awesome had it just had some more time in the oven, y'know? For all of its red and black eye-searing color palette, I actually think Wario Land VB looks and plays beautifully, which made me feel the console could've had some really rad experiences if it was made just ever so slightly less cumbersome.

What study facility is the original poster referring to? O.o;

Anyone try that unreleased prototype of Bound High? You're basically a bouncy ball, and there's a Jumping Flash style of camera.
Also, a Wii + CRT + anaglyph glasses are probably the best way to play VB games nowadays.

I will gladly picket to help the City Council know that the study facility needs to be preserved! It's a historic building that encourages people to check out fun old red-and-black video game systems. That's a truly vital mission.
Also, I should play VB Wario Land someday. Course clear! You got a card.

I wonder why exactly Nintendo hasn't re-released the Virtual Boy games yet. The Nintendo 3DS would've been perfect for it! People like to say that it's because Nintendo would rather forget about the Virtual Boy, but I'm not sure about that. If that's true, then how come they seem alright with referencing the console in their newer games, like Super Smash Bros. Melee and Nintendo Labo? I wonder if they think they wouldn't get much attention due to lack of familiarity and the potentially off-putting color scheme, though in the latter they could just give options to use other palettes that are easier on the eyes (like some Game Boy palettes).
Someday I might have to try out the Virtual Boy; it's the only VR thing I can ever see myself playing around with. Granted, it's probably only going to happen if I see it in someone's house or if it's available for a few bucks. Though, while stuck on Virtual Boy Land, VB Wario Land seems to have a bit of an influence. The usage of 3D and how you switch between the background and foreground has been done again in the 3DS Kirby games. There's also the upcoming Antonblast, which seems to take inspiration from this game (along with Wario Land 4). Maybe it's not much, but then again, how much influence do Wario Land 2 and 3 have on other games? Besides the multiple forms, which are also present in Wario Land 4? (Also, do preserve that study facility please! It's cool to see Virtual Boy fans, including those who spread their love of the system and its games!)

From what I understand, for a long time people thought that the 3DS wasn't powerful enough to ensure the virtual boy. A full speed emulator only came out relatively recently.
