What cool stuff did you do in 2018?

Real Life Stuff I Did

• Had a bunch of job interviews, with varying results
  
• Started a cool new job - it's going pretty well but gives me a lot less time for MFGG stuff
  
• Volunteered at several IT events, including two where I gave presentations
  
• Got a technical certification in HTML/CSS to prove to the world that I might know what a <p> tag is
  
• Learned a lot about mainframe computers
  
• Got a spiffy new laptop to replace my broken old laptop and successfully recovered everything I wanted to keep
  
• Got a nice new phone to replace the barely-smart phone I got in 2015
  

MFGG/Online Stuff I Did

• Released four chapters of MFGG Emblem, a slightly corny MFGG-based Fire Emblem game
  
• Made Ultimate Pointless Quiz Showdown, an April Foolish quiz game with online high scores
  
• Released Le Tour de Dope, a text-based cycling simulator
  
• Made a trivial amount of progress on Career Fantasy
  
• Didn't do much art, but I did make a Gengar for MFGG's Secret Santa
  
• Stayed on board as MFGG admin, QC person, and Wiki Sysop for another year
  
• Wrote the backend code for a mainsite comments dashboard and promoted two new comment mods, which dramatically improved mainsite moderation
  
• Helped add a new Hacks section to the MFGG mainsite
  
• Made some improvements to the MFGG Wiki software so admin approval isn't required to keep spambots out
  
• Helped make some changes to modernize my other forum
  

Stuff I Didn't Do

• Release any new music
  
• Anything involving Satilla Complex
  
• Get married
  
• Illicit substances - I always say no to 'em!

• Got into university
  
• Came out to my family as trans and bi
  
• Started hormone replacement therapy
  
• Started growing breasts, got clearer skin, nicer hair, and a more feminine face shape
  
• Started feeling sort of okay about myself again
  
• Started being able to feel motivated to do things again
  
• Started painting again
  
• Got a girlfriend, realized I'm polyamorous

I can't remember well enough to go as far back as 2017, even, but I'll try my best to think of what I've done this year.

• Improved my art skill in...

• Worked on bettering my attitude towards others (though I haven't been perfect still)
  
• Decided to feel more open and get weights off my back that have been stressing me out
  
• Made a bunch of music (namely with BeepBox, but I've also done mashups and etc. in Audacity)
  
• Attempted to gain weight but not a lot due to my high metabolism (got a few extra pounds, though)
  
• Bought a bunch of new games and loved them all
  
• Made a few new games on Roblox
  • also helped out my friends on their games
    

I may add more to this list as time goes on, but for now this is everything I can think of at the moment.

It's a mixed bag. Such is life!

• Learned how to map in Hammer (Valve's Source Engine mapping tool) and made maps for Team Fortress 2.
  
• Stood up for myself against someone I thought wasn't so nice
  
• Went back to school, and made a friend.
  
• Got off Crohn's disease medication because apparently, I didn't have the illness. Mood has changed DRAMATICALLY because of the changes!
  
• Fought off depression, beat it I guess.
  
• Released a Mario RPG hack, and won a contest on MFGG!
  
• Went on a vacation trip with the fam to Joshua Tree, CA.
  
• Read a total of 1 book.
  
• Met up with a childhood friend to see what they're up to. (Spoiler: They're doing great)
  
• Connected with another childhood friend via the internet. (Spoiler: They're doing great, too)
  
• Drank more coffee than I have in the last 10 years combined.
  

I think I can do more next year, but I'm pretty comfortable with this list. Though, being comfortable isn't always a good thing. I predict next year will be a total transformation on my routine, for better or for worse.

• Went to SGDQ! Was a lot of fun. I know Syax is going to AGDQ real soon, so I can give my seal of approval for the event. Have a good one!
  
• (SGDQ Still) Met a lot of friends. Made even more of them when I got the world record in the only game that matters in this world: Pringles on Genesis.
  
• Started University, finally. It's tough, but I think I can manage.
  
• Got a job that I love (QA Tester). Got my name on some very well received games' credits.
  
• Built a bunch of computers, and, in the long run, learned so much more about them.
  
• Built some newfound confidence for my future. What's needed now is the motivation...
  
• Learned how to DJ. Played live at an anime convention. Was a lot of fun, despite my set being at 4 AM and nobody was on the dance floor. Oh well

• Becoming a staff of MFGG

• Improving my art skills and started to define my own art style

• Helping out other MFGG stuffs like: main site comments, QC, fixing badges (though it's not fully done yet)

Real life stuffs:

• Working on my social skills and making more friends
  
• Working for a company for almost a year as a customer support manager, logistics, and web admin.
  
• Got a side job for making deliveries for backups finances
  
• More hands on experiences with auto repair and coding
  
• Helped out a close friend who's 1000 miles away
  
• Started collecting music (mostly in cassettes)
  
• Getting out of my depression and become more confident with myself
  
• Got a "new" Core i7 PC from a friend
  

Stuffs I wish I can accomplish but I will do my best to reach next year:

• Get a new car

- made a serious effort to reconnect with family members and friends that i had neglected. to wit, i actually got off my blessed assurance and went to visit my grandmother after not seeing her regularly for a while.
- began working with a few new people who turned out to be some of the best coworkers i've had in a while
- bought myself a pawn shop guitar and practiced some with it
- spent plenty of time with my wonderful niece, a five year old girl named edie. i also spoiled her quite a bit with plenty of presents around christmastime, ones that her poppo (grandfather) and BB (step-grandmother) could enjoy with her like board games and such. edie is, and will always be, my little baby fish.
- got to see my nephew (actually my second cousin) at christmas time, and got to show him a big plushy fish i had. my nephew timmy loves fish, and his father would always talk about how much he did whenever timmy saw his daddy watching fishing shows on TV
- bought more than $200 of fireworks and strung them together to create a show that blew away a bunch of people. you know, something like this.

2018 was a pretty good year for the most part:

• Passed my driving test
  
• Went on holiday to Turkey
  
• Started my final year of university
  
• Made new friends at work
  
• Overcame the worst of depression/anxiety I suffered from
  
• My 'ex-best friend' left me. I was very upset about that at the time, but I later realised she wasn't a very good friend and I was probably better off without her.
