Joke Game Contest 2: Gamin' on my Boy

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, gamers of all shapes and sizes, I am proud to announce the much-anticipated (if you could call it that) Joke Game Contest #2! Now what's the theme you ask? Well, since we're doing a second one of these, making a successor theme is pretty fitting to me. I'm sure some of you have guessed it by now, this contest's theme is:

Gamin' on my Boy!

As will 99.9999% of contests, here are some ground rules:

• The game must have either a green Game Boy filter or a 4 color palette.
  
• The game should try to be as "Game Boy-ey" as possible. Unfortunatley, this means 3D games are not allowed.
  
• No excessive language, nudity, or high violence. There can be mild instances of each but try to be as appropriate as you can be.
  
• Please use Google Drive or SendSpace links only if you can.
  

The deadline is May 28th, so that gives you a month to create your game! Happy game making!

I was planning on making a small thing for this comp which it'll be a small DK '94 thing where levels from DK Jr. and DK 3 will be added in the final world, but reading over the comp rules I was a bit confused since you were saying stuff like-

 

• The game must either be a parody of a Game Boy game, or a Game Boy themed parody of a game.
  

 

I guessing my idea would not count as a "parody", so sorry to say, I'm not joining.. Unless you allow stuff like this.

Nevermind, the rule is gone, so expect me to join. (or not..)

Though, could you extend the deadline a bit?

I think the point of that rule is so people won't have to face the struggle of making a 3D Game Boy game.

From what I can tell those are still 2D, they're just using Mode 7 to create a false 3D look. I assume that'd be allowed if you wanted to do that.

From what I can tell those are still 2D, they're just using Mode 7 to create a false 3D look. I assume that'd be allowed if you wanted to do that. 

None of these look like they're using Mode 7 I don't think. They're just drawing primitives. Any computer will be capable of drawing polygons to convey a 3D environment, so the Game Boy can definitely do simple 3D graphics.

Now if you made something in Game Maker's 3D engine or something to that effect, that would def be over and beyond what the GB could accomplish. I'm pretty sure that's the kind of 3D RevampedSpider is talking about.

Mode 7 is definitely allowed. If the Game Boy could do it, it's allowed.

Like I said before, if a Game Boy game did it, you CAN do it. NES and SNES sounds are allowed despite the Game Boy not being able to do SNES sounds.

You still have quite a lot of time left on this. It looks like you already have quite a bit done too. Perhaps you can shrink the scale of your game if you feel you don't have enough time to complete it.

Sorry. There's a lot of time to make an entry as it is now. Like others have said, maybe you could scale your entry size down or maybe make it your main focus for a bit.

As of now, there are 20 days left until the contest ends!

There will also be a 10 day voting period before the contest ends. I'd we get more than 5 entries, there will be a 5 day voting period for top 5 and 5 day voting for the winner.

Lastly, a word of advice. Make sure to test your games thoroughly for bugs before submitting. Have fun.
