In this article, several game developers report about suffering from "burnout", which is slang for working on a passion so much so that one forgets to take care of themselves along the way.
This is my favorite quote from the article:
“When it comes to burnout specifically, the real trick is to embed a belief that the more important a project is, the more important it is to take care of yourself along the way." [Holmes, p.2]
In short, being self-aware by taking time to heal--by doing tasks like checking in with yourself, talking to friends, going out for a walk, and stuff like that--is essential while developing a game passionately.
What about you? Have you ever been in burnout before, or have stories to tell about it? Do share!
