Nice drawings. To make the faces look less flat watch the shadows. The reason they are looking flat is because the shadows are not showing form so having them isn't doing much for your characters. You should look at how shadows fall on a real face with the lighting you are using.
The light is coming from the right on this photo. Watch how the shadows wrap around the forms of her face. The nose casts a longer shadow where it protrudes most (the tip). Your light source isn't as strong so it the shadows will be less dramatic, but the same knowledge applies. Looking at charts like the one above can also help sometimes, but for me the most helpful way of figuring out lighting is to just apply the lighting to myself with a lamp and taking a photo. Your style is very simple so you'd have to simplify the shadows, but you should still take into account the way shadows work in real life and manipulate it into your own style. You also have to consider the structure of each face, for example someone with pronounced cheekbones will have more of a shadow underneath (with standard top 45° lighting). In the end it comes down to observing real life and applying it to your own style. On the subject of observing real life, I'd watch your anatomy especially when it comes to shoulders and necks. In the drawing of the girl's face, her neck is thicker at the top and tapers as it goes down to the chest, which is the opposite of what a neck should do. Her chest is also very high up. The drawings are nice, just keep drawing and observing real life and you are sure to improve

Finally got around to updating my thread. This time it's pixel art:
A Wario head: A completed version of the outline which I made for the collaboration competition (which was a flop, sadly) which was in honor of Smash Ultimate: Another Smash Bros. fighter, Captain Falcon (WIP): And finally, a girl looking up at the falling snow (this was for a small competition on a Discord server, which I ended up winning): ________________________________ Regarding my art in general, I've been using references and I'm planning to hopefully improve and move on from there.

It's been half a year since I've posted in here... Let's see how much I've improved! There's a ton of stuff which I haven't shown off here, so get ready. I'll try to order everything from oldest to newest:
Deku/Izuku Midoriya emotes that I made for a friend's Discord server: My avatar on the Main Site: A parody of the Super Crown; the Super Clown (I edited screenshots of the NSMBUDX trailer): (Large Image)A drawing for a past Drawing Competition where theme was to utilize a real object in a drawing; I tried utilizing a Jacob's Ladder toy in mine: (Large Image)My own design of Luigi-ette for a past Drawing Competition (sorry for the low quality of the image): (Large Image)A drawing of a girl that never got colored in: (Large Image)Mob and Dimple standing on a path in a field: Phoenix Wright: A Mario parody of Ace Attorney starring Mario and Wario as attorneys: (Large Image)A couple sharing an umbrella: A fox-eared girl: A tileset I made for MTA3 (I spoilered it in case one of the MTA3 judges looks at this thread) Raphtalia (from Rising of the Shield Hero) made in MS Paint as a challenge: (Large Image) A drawing of a girl garbed in fantasy-styled clothing: (Large Image)Another drawing of a girl: (Large Image and Panty Shot Warning) I also tried to ink the above drawing, and it was a success! (Large Image and Panty Shot Warning) Here's a drawing of the same girl in tears: (Large Image)I inked this one as well (and learned that white-out is my worst enemy)! Please ignore the part where I tried using white-out to erase something and tried to draw over it. (Large Image) Feedback is always appreciated! Once again, I used references for most of these pieces. I can see my improvement, but I still have much to learn. I didn't post any Super Mario Generations music since this post was so big already, so maybe I'll post some at a different time.

Seems "A Gloomy Walk" and "Good Vibes" both got a little too emotional and ran away - those two URLs aren't working for me.
Course clear! You got a card.
