I haven't read through the whole thread, so don't be mad at me if some/most/all of these have been suggested already:
-a syobon mario level where everything kills you (you get 100 lives and have to try until you know all the traps to make it to the exit)
-a level that looks like an entirely different game, everyone talks a strange microsoft-wingdings language (great idea for an easter egg: the text boxes all make sense if you translate it to a different font)
-a level in mexico where everything is mexican. for no reason at all.
-a point where you get arrested and thrown in jail. the entire level is trying to break out of prison (which is giant and sits on the top of a volcano, superjail-style)
-a level that gets sucked into the void or is deleted entirely, so you have to navigate around a giant white space of emptyness until you find some blocks/rooms or NPCs, helping you to get out of 'here' and 'somewhere else'
-an underwater level that SUCKS, all the fish NPCs are telling you they hate 'underwater areas', despite living there, so you pull a plug and drain it and it becomes a regular overworld level. the fish people all die tho
-a world made of candy. a giant guy (boss?) eats it all in the end.
-you go to THE MOON and it's made of CHEESE (the boss is a giant mouse/mouser type of guy that throws bombs at you for your lack of knowledge regarding cheese)
-a quiz boss (you encounter a huge, muscular guy, expecting a fight, but he just puts on his glasses and starts to ask you quiz questions "who wants to become a millionaire"-style. you get punished for answering a question wrong)
-a giant hole you fall in. all the people 'living' there are falling. their houses/shops/schools/cars all fall as well.
-a dream you want to wake up from, so you have to kill yourself (multiple times->stuck in multiple dream levels stacked on top of each other) (karoshi / inception inspired)
-SMB 2 (everyone loves good ol' SMB2)
-a level in bavaria, germany (I could help with translating/dialogue/voice acting/whatever)
-a SM64 style castle where you have to enter paintings in order to get to mini-levels where you have to collect 1 star, but the levels all SUCK or glitch or are very hard to navigate through/trial and error (when you die, you don't lose a life, you just get thrown out the painting and can try again and again)
I got tons of neat level design or cutscene/dialogue ideas so if you want to brainstorm a bit hit me up !
