Battle system is beginning to take shape at last. I only have two of Riky's techs implemented rn, which is why i only used 2 in this demonstration lol but the rest should be pretty easy

At long last, all of Riky's Techs are done! Swords Dance gives you a very brief damage buff and Steel Strike topples a single enemy that's suffering Break

I'm not dead o3o I've just been real busy with school xp But i've made a lot of progress! It may not be super apparent from the video below, but lots of stuff has been done internally. I got all of Riky's techs and skills added, and I got the tech upgrade/swapping menu implemented. I added Riky's final tech Aura Storm today, so here's a short demonstration of the battle system with a few of Riky's techs and of course Aura Storm o3o

I rewrote the inventory system so that it could be used in battles. The action slows to half speed while it's open, allowing you a chance to select an item and use it. I've also done a lot of small changes, one of them being to only display the HP bar of the enemy you're targeting and moving them to the top and center of the screen so that the battles are less cluttered. A bigger change i made is i made some slight controls alterations - you move now with WASD keys, dodge with the space bar, and select items from the inventory/Techs and Skills using the mouse instead of keys, to make the controls a little more consistent and reduce the number of buttons you need to be able to press.

courtesy of @JKMaxx the game has new and larger Tech and Skill icons!
I still have a bit of visual tweaking to do so that the new graphics fit the battle HUD background a bit better but otherwise everything is in perfect working order c: In other news i've made a TON of updates and fixes (mainly to the Techs menu and the new item inventory lol), among them being the transition from using a bunch of different keys/buttons to using the mouse to select menu options and the like. Stay tuned for future updates o3o

I'm not dead and neither is this project! Work has been slow unfortunately due to school giving me more and more work as i approach my final semesters, but here's the latest development:
Party member AI now functions in battle as well as out o3o Currently only Fiona's standard attacks are in, but i've already begun work on implementing her Techs. Stay tuned for more info o3o On an unrelated note, i REALLY need spriters - preferrably experienced spriters who can imitate or mimic the Mystery Dungeon sprite style. If you'd like to lend a hand, please let me know! |
